The Princess Side of Me

No matter how old I get, no matter how many times the story has been told, I can't resist the attraction to another princess story. I've never been a girlie girl. I don't love frills or bows or the color pink. Yet there is something so intriguing about that familiar plot, told in thousands of books and movies, where the beautiful princess is rescued and swept off her feet by the handsome irresistible young man. The settings, details and names change at each re-telling of the story, but basically it's all the same. So why is it intriguing? Why go through movies and books that we already know the ending to?

I don't know. You tell me. There are surely many reasons, but that plot resonates within a girl's soul. Whatever her age may be, she loves the thought of her heart being won over by the one who loves her most and forever will.

The most amazing thing of all is that it all goes back to the Love Story of life! This is exactly the plot of the story of God's love for us. He could have picked a republic, or democracy, or whatever kind of government structure, but God picked a kingdom to describe His way of life. The Kingdom where the King's mercy and greatness are incomparable, where the "Prince" sacrificed all for love, where there is joy and peace and blessing and every good thing you can (and even can't possibly) imagine. Yes, I'm so glad God chose a Kingdom, because the princess side of me can totally relate.
